"The name that can be named is not the enduring and unchanging name." --
Lao Tze
Min Xiao-Fen: pipa, vocal & electronics, Wu Wei: sheng, erhu,
xun & more, Xu Fengxia: zheng & vocal. Three extraordinary
musicians who grew up during the Chinese cultural revolution -- virtuosos
with their own orchestral and underground projects -- join forces for the
first time in America. These remarkable composer/improvisers - all
explorers of new music with traditional roots - have redefined their
instruments, receiving universal acclaim from critics and audiences alike.
Min / Wu / Xu will premier composer Carl Stone's “Ghost Karaoke.”
Mr. Stone, a pioneer of live computer music, has been hailed by the
Village Voice as "the king of sampling." |
