The first annual Plucked Instrument Festival explores the similarities—and differences—shared by plucked instruments from around the world, including the Arabic oud, the African kora, the Japanese koto, the European lute and the Chinese pipa. This concert features some of the world finest instrumentalists—Simon Shaheen (oud), Abdou Mboup (kora), Masayo Ishigure (koto), Christopher Morrongiello (lute) and Min Xiao-Fen (pipa)— performing traditional compositions as well as exciting contemporary works.
